The story behind the design
Tyterogaka takes its name from an old Indigenous name for Lanzarote. Before the European conquest, the majos, the island’s Indigenous inhabitants of North African Berber origin, used forms such as Titerogakaet to refer to Lanzarote. The term has been linked to Berber and Tuareg expressions interpreted as “the burned one”, an image that connects with the volcanic landscape.
The organic cotton Tyterogaka T-shirt carries this legacy into the present: lava, wind, ocean and Lanzarote’s identity, for those who feel a connection with the island.
